Summer is just around the corner, and it’s time to bring out the summer wardrobe. But, oh no! A t-shirt you liked last year is looking a bit drab this year. Maybe your favorite t-shirt mysteriously acquired a big ol’ stain. Or your favorite band only had size XL shirts left to purchase at the end of the concert, when you’re more suited to an XS. What to do?
Generation T to the rescue! The best part? The transformations in this book don’t require a sewing machine. While you could certainly use one if you’ve got one, the creations can be easily done by hand. Though the the book is written by a woman and has many alterations tailored to women, it contains a number of men’s t-shirt ideas, too. In addition to making tops, you can transform t-shirts into skirts, accessories, or even turn your really worn-out shirts into a braided rug for your home with the directions provided.
I like this book because of the ease of the directions. Each transformation features step-by-step illustrations that show exactly where and how to cut, sew, or otherwise alter your tee, as well as a photograph of the finished product. Granted, the DIY designs in this book may not appeal to everyone, but if you’re looking to stretch your clothing budget this year, it wouldn’t hurt to take a look and get some ideas on how to freshen up your existing wardrobe with a few simple alterations.
