Katie Fforde has written many lovely, contemporary romances set in England. Wedding Season is her latest, and it doesn’t disappoint.
This story is told from the perspectives of three friends: Sarah, a wedding planner; Elsa, a whiz seamstress; and Bron, a hairdresser with a flare for making special occasion cakes. All three women have worked together on weddings before, but they really cement their relationship as a team after a celebrity contacts Sarah to plan her dream wedding in just two months! To make matters more complicated for Sarah, her younger sister, Lily, has planned her own nuptials for the exact same day.
As the women creatively solve problems to make the celebrity extravaganza as well as Lily’s low-budget event a success, they each resolve issues in their personal lives — issues which include finding the right man and falling in love.
Even with the crazy deadline to get everything done in two months for a showstopper wedding, Fforde keeps Wedding Season going at a gentle pace. I enjoyed taking a break and dipping into the book when I needed to unwind.

Other books with a wedding theme that you may enjoy include:

- Weddings by Bella series (start with Fools Rush In), by Janice Thompson
- Diary of a Mad Bride, by Laura Wolf
- The Wedding Girl, By Madeleine Wickham

I love Katie Fforde’s books! They focus on doing and making (one on fixing a narrow boat, one on designing a garden for the Chelsea Garden Show) and less on the “romance” of the story. Better living through crafting! They are always humorous, with strongly drawn characters. You could give these books to your mother or your daughter, they have universal themes and appeal.
Fforde needs more fans!
I just read this book and loved it. It was light and funny. Could not put it down.
