We are excited to announce that Blogging for a Good Book is the winner of the 2009 Louis Shores/Greenwood Publishing Group Award given for excellence in book reviewing. We are honored that the committee noted that “Blogging for a Good Book serves as a model for book reviewing of the future.” We thank the committee for selecting us for the award; we thank the writers here at Williamsburg Regional Library who have taken the time to craft thoughtful and entertaining reviews; and we also thank the community of readers and commenters without whom BFGB would not have a reason to exist. For full text of the award information, see the RUSA blog.

Congratulations! The whole team deserves it! The reviews have really helped to widen my reading and keep me out of a rut.
BFBG is one RSS feed I look forward to reading. Congratulations!!!
Thanks, Suzanne. We are delighted that BFGB has been useful to you, and honored by the award.
My sincere congratulations to your entire staff. I look forward to reading BFGB each day. As a librarian I appreciate the professionalism exhibited by those who post. I have also found some great books to read and to share with the readers in our community in Connecticut. It’s amazing how broad the audience can be with a blog. I requested and was given permission to post your review of Cordelia Underwood. Here’s a comment from one of our patrons.
“When I read this book, I become so immersed in the 19th century that it is jarring when I stop reading and find myself in the 21st! Give Cordelia Underwood a try if you enjoy a novel that transports you to a completely different time and place” …bas bleu
This reader probably would not have ever found this book in our stacks if not for the review.
Thank you.
Thanks, Carol. This is exactly what we hope that Blogging for a Good Book offers — the opportunity to connect readers with books and expand the community of readers.
Bravo! Well deserved – you all really have quite the site: this is the good stuff!
Thanks, David.
